Barcelona manager Xavi has now expressed his frustration at his side, after drawing in a tough match against Mallorca.
The Blaugrana dropped two points at San Moix after a number of defensive errors saw the team go 2-1 down, and unlike what they did against Celta Vigo, they were unable to come back and win.
Goals from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez helped grab a point in a game in which they could have lost, but Xavi has lamented the defensive errors made by his side which ultimately cost the win.
Speaking after the game, the Spaniard claimed that Barcelona cannot continue to make careless errors at the back, having conceded four goals in the last two games.
“We must improve. Last year, solidarity and concentration in defence gave us a lot of strength,” he stated.
“Today we have not been bad but they are two specific errors that should not happen. Because of those errors we lost two points today.”
Barcelona’s defensive issues
Barcelona have now conceded eight times in seven La Liga games this season. This is in stark contrast to last season, where it took them 25 games to concede the same amount.
Xavi rotated both his centre-backs against Mallorca, with Inigo Martinez making his first start and Ronald Araujo returning from injury, which may explain the lack of cohesion at the back.

In the long run, it may not be sustainable for Barcelona to concede at the rate they are, and keep relying on the attack to deliver comebacks. Whilst they managed to secure wins against Villarreal and Celta Vigo, they were unable to do so against Mallorca, and they may come to regret dropping points carelessly in the title race.
Barcelona will face an in-form Sevilla side on Friday, and if they do not iron out their defensive errors, they may be in for another chaotic match.
